Sadiq Khan has announced a plan to clamp down on roadworks in the capital. The Mayor of London’s plan involves making sure multiple firms carry out their repairs or maintenance at the same time so that roads are closed for a shorter amount of time.
The comes as Mr Khan says disruption in the city’s roads – most of which are controlled by borough councils – is slowing down some buses. He told MyLondon this morning (Monday, October 30) after announcing that he is making an extra £10 million available to address the issue: “We know unfortunately the average speed of our buses is slowed down just slightly, and the explanation of that [is] roadworks.
